Polymer Clay Magnets

These were my first attempts into the world of Poylmer Clay! I made some magnets for my friend for his birthday and as he is a fellow movie lover like me there was only one thing for it! I also personalised them for him so they were just his! And I was particularly pleased with the clapper board!

The clapperboard before it had been personalised! Very hard writing with a cocktail stick but just about legible!
Painted the base with Acrylic paint!

Personalised to make it one of a kind!
And a bit of gold paint to finish it off!! In hindsight I probably should have just written straight onto the star rather than trying to etch it in the clay! Live and learn!

Mini Album

I made this mini album last year and I was really proud of it so just wanted to share it:
This is the front cover the paper is from Die Cuts with a View 'Once Upon a Time' mat stack.  I handmade the paper flower and inked it using Distress Ink in Aged Mahogany, cut some leaves out of Gold Mirri board and then clear embossed them to add texture. Added a bit of gold ribbon, as well as a monogram charm B which is attached to a piece of inked string in Walnut Stain, then the rest of 'Believe' is embossed in gold afterwards! I made a swirl out of Distress Stickles and added a frame and embossed word 'wish'.
A pretty thick album due to it being made of corrugated cardboard and me getting slightly over excited with the embellishments inside.
This is the first page which has 3 photo/journalling mats 2 tucked inside the others! The flowers are all handmade and inked with Distress Inks: Aged Mahogany, Tattered Rose and Old Paper, the mats are also all inked with these colours!
This shows how the mats pull out, the two that come out are double sided
Page 2 which is slightly shorter! The back is stripped back to its corrugated texture and painted with Walnut Stain Crackle, then ripped pieces of paper inked with vintage photo form a frame which has a tag which can be pulled out! This tag has been stamped, embossed, inked and topped off with a gold flower which has a little pearl in the centre as then another 2d flower has been placed in the corner of the frame.

This is a swivelling photo mat gas has 3 mats that spin away from each other and again have a handmade flower on the top! The background is also hand inked.

This page has a decorative gold pocket as well as 2 tags which pull out for photos or jounalling.  The background is stamped with the image of a dragon, clear embossed and then inked over with `Aged Mahogany and Vintage Photo to make the image really pop out! The tags are also inked in these colours

I've inked this background with vintage photo again to give the patterned paper a more stained and vintage feel.  The little booklet has been inked with tattered rose, has a strip of golf mirror board, a white patterned border and some ribbon roses, then all closed together with a piece of ribbon!
There is room inside for Journalling and Photos, and has been decorated with some stamped images and gold mirror board to tie it all together
I created this page by again inking some patterned paper for the background. Then created a frame by stamping and embossing on some gold mirror board, there is acetate behind the frame and the side has been left open so a photo can be slipped in. There is also a corner pocket made of gold mirror board and acetate which the little tag can be taken out and journalling added
This little pocket has been inked and a little swivel clasp added to keep it shut as well as some decorative elements and the word INSPIRE! It opens up to reveal space for photos and journalling

Again this background has been stamped, clear embossed and then inked over to create real dimension and texture, I really love this technique! I've them made this little booklet out of patterned paper
Which opens one way to reveal space for photos and journalling
And the other way. Complete with handmade flower!
Really Love this flower, with the large Gem and then seed beads around it
This is a little holder down the side of the page decorated with pearl beads
Another handmade flower on the photo mat!
And the other side of the mat complete with more ribbon!
The final page has a large frame again with acetate and the side open ready for a photo to be slipped in.
And the back is covered in the same paper as the front!!
This was a labour of love but one that I enjoyed every second of!
If anyone is interested I have actually just put this on my Etsy store here!

A Special Card

It was one of my closest friends 30th Birthdays last week so I decided a special card was in order to celebrate the occasion!!

This is an 8x8 Card, using Centura Snow White Pearl Card.  I cut out the base square using my Cricut Storybook cartridge, using the shadow feature for the Purple Card (which is also Centura Pearl) and then the regular size using Snow White again!
I used the same technique with the shadow feature for the letters but the other way round so that the White is the shadow and then I ran the Purple letters through my Cuttlebug in an embossing folder just to add a bit more interest and dimension to the card!
I made this flower using card stock and cutting the shapes out with the cricut (there are all different shapes layered in this flower) I misted them with Cosmic Shimmer Mist (I think it was Indigo) then scrunched them up a bit, layered them up and added a nice bit of bling in the centre! As well as adding the little rhinestones, which I used a template to stick them all on in the swirly pattern!
As a couple of finishing touches I added a felt butterfly as the friend I was making this card for absolutely loves them so I felt it was only right, and I also added three little rhinestones in the unused corners just to finish it all off and bring it all together!
Just really like this picture with the shadows as I took it when the run was going down! Maybe doesn't show the card off in it's best way but I think it looks quite dramatic!!
Very pleased with the finished look!

Welcome Home!

My sister recently returned home! So in order to celebrate I decided to make her a banner! And as she loves Cows there was only one thing for it:
I used some old rectangles of corrugated cardboard! Cut some white paper to size then splodged (a technical term) on the cow print using Rangers Paint Dabbers in Pitch Black, its like they were made for such an occasion!  Then I cut out the letters using my Cricut and the Art Nouveau cartridge, (font 1 I believe) a very pretty one!! Painted these with the Paint Dabbers in Watermelon and stuck it all together using some Mod Podge (loving that stuff!)! The punched some holes with the trust Crop o Dile and tied it all together with some black ribbon!
Hooray!

Lilac Wishes

My Mum asked me to make a Birthday card for a friend yesterday, and all I got told was pastels!
Hugely into the beautiful effect of embossing So decided to just emboss a piece of White Centura Pearl Card with the Cuttlebug All-In-One 'Beautiful' plate, then added some lilac accents with the Spellbinder Parisian Accents die, and Labels Five!  Then just added a simple Happy Birthday Sentiment, a couple of gems and some little white flowers highlighted with lilac gems and Voila!

Simple but elegant ... I hope!

Thank You

Finally got round to making my Thank You cards!
Nice and simple, just embossed some green card and designed a Thank You on the Cricut Design Studio and put a little accent green gem on the exclamation point!

Really love how embossing just adds that little something extra to a design so you really don't need much else!

Birds of Fancy

I have finally got round to making a proper card of the year!!
And round to using my new Tim Holtz Bird Cage die which I have wanted to absolutely ages, as well as a few other Tim Holtz things that I haven't been able to use yet like the Distress Stains and the metallic crackle paint!! Absolutely love them all!!

My Tim Holtz Bird cut out with chipboard and painted with Walnut Stain Crackle Paint and Antiqued Bronze on the wing
I added a letter charm at the top of the tag
This banner is stained with Wild Honey Distress Stain
Little gold corner peel off just as an extra accent
The whole card and tag! This is a mans card, I always find them so hard but hopefully this is masculine enough! Not a flower or ribbon in sight which was hard as I love to at least put a flower on, oh well, hehe!
